DESCRIPTION:Why is sex ed important and what do we mean by sex ed? We’re going to get into it! Liz Slagus of the Sex Ed Bakeshop will present evidence-based rationales for when and why sex ed is essential for everyone.  \nShe will talk about what your kiddos might want and need when it comes to their sexual health\, how to support them\, and provide you with resources to help. Slagus will also talk about the consent-focused work she’s doing with TKU during Spring 2025.  \nBring questions. Bring an open mind. Bring your hopes and dreams for sex ed. Most of us didn’t get what we deserved. Let’s talk about how we can do better. \nLiz Slagus is a Brooklyn-based artist\, curator\, educator\, and writer who is committed to sexual health not being a game of chance. She is pursuing a MEd in Human Sexuality Studies at Widener University to fortify her toolkit for the pursuit of reproductive justice and holistic sexual health for all. Slagus specializes in art/science collaborations\, public programming\, and community engagement\, and has designed and produced residencies and program series with/for Eyebeam\, the State Library of Queensland\, EMPAC\, the New York Hall of Science\, and currently\, FEED Media Art Center. In 2009\, Slagus co-founded SexEd to produce a social practice-based body of art and curatorial projects that took the shape of sexual health campaigns\, exhibitions\, a sex ed salon with over 1\,000 teenagers\, after-school programs\, and a course at Parsons – The New School; all documented as the sex ed that doesn’t exist in the US. Motivated by the overturning of Roe v. Wade\, and lack of research\, information\, and public knowledge about topics such as menopause and pleasure\, Slagus has created the Sex Ed Bakeshop\, a new platform for fun\, safe\, and inclusive sexuality education. She holds a BA in Art History and Anthropology from Bucknell University and a MA in Visual Arts Administration from NYU. \nRegister

He completed a comprehensive paper on Enabling Autistic College Students to Evaluate Best-of-Class Employment Practices in Science\, Technology\, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) as his recent sabbatical study.  \nDr. Lawler will present a best-of-class employment model for autistic students based on how technology companies are believed to operate. He will explain how the model supports autistic students with job preparation\, workplace settings\, career growth\, health and personal services\, and community outreach in top technology companies.  \nThis presentation includes a helpful guide for parents and students to assess how autistic students can succeed in more supportive STEM careers. This program aims to teach participants about digital marketing by exploring various relevant topics\, equipping them with valuable skills and industry knowledge.\nThe virtual course is the first phase of a ten-month initiative in which TKU has partnered with AHRC and Bridges to Work. This collaboration is designed to offer a well-rounded experience that enhances participants’ skills and improves their employment prospects. The program consists of three main components: upskilling through TKU\, internship opportunities facilitated by AHRC NYC\, and connections to potential employers through Bridges to Work.
