Two Friends: An Exhibition of Student Work from TKU

June 24, 2025

On June 18, we proudly opened the doors to TWO FRIENDS, an exhibition that celebrates the imagination, creativity, and dedication of Tech Kids Unlimited’s neurodiverse student community. It was an inspiring evening filled with art, technology, and community spirit!

The opening event was truly special. The exhibition offered an exciting glimpse into the skills and creativity that TKU students develop through hands-on learning. Guests had the opportunity to experience student-led gallery tours, where TKU students spoke about the projects.

One of the highlights of the evening was presenting the JJ Oesterle Award in memory of beloved social worker, JJ Oesterle, who embodied kindness, empathy, creativity, curiosity, and a joyful spirit toward life and learning. This year, we saw many of the same qualities in our student Tate. This moment reminded us why we do what we do: empowering students to learn, grow, and express themselves through technology. Celebrating Tate with this award was a powerful reminder that JJ’s legacy lives on through the students who continue to learn, grow, and share their gifts with the world through technology.

Of course, no celebration is complete without good company and refreshments! Thanks to our partners Wava Water and Summer Wine, guests enjoyed cool, refreshing drinks as they explored the gallery and connected with one another.

The title TWO FRIENDS, inspired by a student project, perfectly reflects the heart of the TKU experience: learning, creating, and growing together. This exhibition wasn’t just a showcase of projects—it was a testament to what’s possible when imagination meets opportunity. You can access the video game arcade here!

We’re so proud of our students and grateful to our community for joining us in celebrating their work. If you couldn’t make it to the opening, don’t worry—the exhibition remains on view for a limited time. The exhibition is in the Clive Davis Gallery at NYU Tandon School of Engineering and it will be open through Aug 8. The Gallery is open Tuesday to Friday from 11am to 6pm. Come see how creativity and technology come together at TKU!
