Adult Career and Continuing Education Services – Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) helps people with disabilities prepare for and find employment. ACCES-VR may pay for training programs, educational services, and job readiness activities.

How to Use ACCES-VR with Us:

  1. Apply or be referred to ACCES-VR services.
  2. Meet with your ACCES-VR counselor and explain how our program supports your goals.
  3. Ask your counselor for approval to use Access VR funding.
  4. Once approved, your counselor will coordinate payment with us.
  5. You can then register and get started in our program.

Self-Direction through OPWDD

Self-Direction is a way for people with developmental disabilities in New York State to design a life plan that works best for them. Instead of only choosing from a set list of services, participants and their families get a personal budget that they can use to pay for community programs, classes, and activities that support independence and skills.

How to Use Self-Direction with Us:

  1. Be eligible for OPWDD services and enrolled in the Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) Waiver.
  2. Talk with your Support Broker or Fiscal Intermediary (FI) about adding our program to your budget.
  3. Confirm we are an approved provider (if not, your broker can help you add us).
  4. Register for our program and let us know you’re paying with Self-Direction.
  5. We’ll provide invoices, receipts, or attendance logs as needed for your FI.

  • How long does approval take?

    Approval times vary, but it’s best to speak with your broker or counselor as early as possible.

  • Can I use both Self-Direction and ACCES-VR?

    Yes! Some participants use both services depending on their goals and eligibility.

  • What if my budget doesn’t cover the full cost?

    You can combine funding with out-of-pocket payments. We’ll work with you to make it clear and easy.
