Mission
Tech Unlimited uses technology tools, computer science thinking, and social-emotional learning to ignite unlimited futures for neurodiverse students in need. Students who learn and think differently explore the creative power of tech, practice work readiness skills, and build confidence through virtual and in-person programs in a fun and supportive community.
Our Premier Partner
The Ability Project at NYU Tandon School of Engineering is our premier partner and where most in-person workshops are held. The Ability Project is an interdisciplinary research hub focused on exploring the intersection between disability and technology.

The Model
-
Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
UDL is a pedagogy that meets students where they are by removing barriers to learning. Teachers provide multiple ways for students to engage, access information and demonstrate what they know.
-
Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
SEL encompasses five competencies: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making.
-
Connected Learning
Connected learning is made up of three components: personal interests/passions, supportive relationships, and opportunities.
-
Design Thinking
Design thinking provides a specific solution-based approach to solving problems. There are five stages of Design Thinking: empathize, define (the problem), ideate, prototype, and test.
-
Project-Based Learning (PBL)
Students engage in solving real-world problems over an extended period of time and have a final product to present.
Strengthening Skills for Life
Social Emotional Learning (SEL) competencies are embedded throughout our workshops with routines like goal-setting, collaboration, reflection, and feedback. These practices help students build confidence, strengthen communication, and improve decision-making skills. A licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) supervises three graduate-level social work interns, creating a strong pipeline of trained professionals who support students directly. In addition, a lead social worker partners with the Education Director to integrate SEL practices into all curriculum and program design. By intentionally weaving SEL into every classroom experience, Tech Unlimited empowers neurodiverse students to build resilience, develop problem-solving skills, and prepare for long-term well-being and success.
How are programs staffed?
At Tech Unlimited, every classroom is designed to provide support within a structured, engaging environment. With a 4:1 adult-to-student ratio, each student receives the attention they need to thrive. The team includes:
- Lead Tech Teachers who guide instruction and promote project-based learning.
- Assistant Teachers who offer hands-on support with technology and creative tools.
- Counselors who provide extra help in the classroom, ensuring students stay on track and understand instructions.
- Social Workers integrated in every class help students build collaboration, communication, and self-expression skills while navigating group dynamics.
This network of educators and professionals works together to create a responsive, inclusive environment where neurodiverse students can access the curriculum, build confidence, and succeed.

“He had such an amazing experience at TKU. I can tell he has learned a great deal and, more importantly, gained a sense of confidence and accomplishment. It blew my mind that he wanted to attend TKU on his days off from school and instead of his field trip this past week. You all run an absolutely brilliant program!” –Parent of 18 year old
