Play My Way: New Social Media Campaign by Neurodiverse Students on Why Games Matter
Sonic Unleashed is TU student Alex’s favorite game. He likes it because of the leveling-up system which helps him with self-agency: “It allows me to become stronger and empowered in the game.”
Alex is one of several students featured in Play My Way, a new video social media campaign series by Tech Unlimited students about how digital play helps neurodiverse learners grow their soft-skills and well-being in multiple ways. Play My Way is supported by Young Futures, a new foundation focused on kids’ digital well-being. TU is thrilled to be one of seven winners of the “Here Comes the Fun Challenge,” about reimagining play as a pathway to well-being. Each video in the series explores a different part of RITEC, a framework developed by the United Nations for studying how digital play supports kids across eight areas: creativity, relationships, emotions, competence, autonomy, safety, identity, and inclusion. For Alex, Sonic Unleashed advances his competence, the confidence in his own abilities and skills.

Content and video production for Play My Way began in Spring 2026 with students creating portions of the video as part of the Friday Creative Tech Internship academic year program. Interns who selected to be part of a module on creating narrative digital stories interviewed fellow students about their favorite games.

Then, Digital Agency students tackled the visuals. They designed the series’ title cards (adding a retro video game look) to match the theme.
Two CRISP summer interns edited and added animations to the videos. Alex was one of them and alongside starring in the video, his artwork and animations appear throughout the series.
