Tech Unlimited Builds Workplace Skills Through CRISP

This summer, Tech Unlimited students stepped into the workplace through CRISP and CRISP Lab, two programs that give neurodiverse young people hands-on work experience. Students worked on real projects, practiced workplace skills, and learned how to advocate for themselves on the job.

CRISP: Learning on the Job

Thirty-three students took part in the Career Readiness Internship Summer Program, Tech Unlimited’s six-week summer internship program.

For five weeks, students worked 20–22 hours per week at 20 different worksites, both in person and virtually. Employers included Con Edison, the Jackie Robinson Museum, an AI company, a web agency, nonprofits, and small businesses.

CRISP Lab: Two Weeks of Teamwork

CRISP Lab offered 19 students a shorter, two-week workplace experience built around team projects.

Along the way, students practiced working as a team, meeting deadlines, communicating with clients, and using their technology skills to create a finished product.

Putting Skills Into Practice

CRISP and CRISP Lab are about more than preparing students for future jobs. They give neurodiverse young people the opportunity to do meaningful work now.

By working with real employers and clients, students can discover their strengths, build confidence, practice self-advocacy, and see what they can contribute to a workplace.
