Inside Our Game Design Hackathon
Want to break into game design? Build personal projects, join game communities, and start your portfolio now. That’s the advice our students heard from two industry pros. Then they had two hours to prove they were already on it.
On March 15, students joined guest speakers Eric Zimmerman, an award-winning designer and Professor at NYU’s Game Center, and Eric Gross, VP of Central Technology at Wizards of the Coast (Hasbro) for our Game Design Mini Hackathon. Participants then raced to build original, playable games about water scarcity in under two hours. Here’s who took home the prizes:
- Best Overall Game: Hagan · Water Fighter
- Best Idea: Alex, Christos, & Jahsiah · Warta’s Journey
- Most Fun: Kieran · Get the Jug!
- Best Visuals: Milo · Collect the Water
- Best Sportsmanship: Abdullah & Booker
